ChiefsClash | SBC Lisbon, SEP2024

In our next ChiefsClash episode, we have freshly after the SBC Lisbon Matthew Gera- Senior iGaming Executive, Ann-Kathrin Baumgardt - Consultant at Batomak Consulting, and Martina Akerlund, CEO of CallsU.

  1. What special local food / fun restaurants you can recommend in Lisbon?

  • Martina: I have had some really nice seafood actually, at a really nice restaurant. I live in Nice on the French Riviera, and I actually have really excellent local seafood, but still I have to say that I love it when I get it in different parts of the world. And this was like also like really high class seafood.

  • Ann: I had Italian food and Japanese food, which was lovely, but I didn't get a

chance to have anything that was remotely Portuguese, sadly, and I do like Peri peri chicken, as some people in the industry do know. I didn't stay long enough to try to sample more so hopefully next year.

  • Matthew: There's been a particular restaurant that had different small portions, and I would recommend it to anybody. It was a little bit high end, but the most important was the wine. I usually always like to take a negroni before I go to bed. There was this place next to my hotel, where they used it in a container and aged the same way as whiskeys.

  1. What are some insights from the SBC Summit parties?

  • Matthew: From from what what I've heard there were, there were some amazing events, soft Swiss just blew it. You know they had to have one of the best Djs. That was, that was one of the things I was supposed to go, but I had another dinner. It was a fantastic couple of days. They really organized it well, whatever you wanted to go, the feedback that I got from every single party or event was really good.

  • Ann: Well, I was only there for 2 nights. So the 1st evening we had a nice relaxed but late dinner with all the new friends. So that was very nice. Then the next day, we attended to another party at a rooftop, and that was fantastic, with the food and location.

  • Martina: So 1st evening I attended the next networking event, which was really nice. It was a lovely rooftop, and you could watch the the sunset. After that I went to crucial compliance, and they celebrated Nikhil sixties birthday, so of course I had to be there. Then they had the SBC leaders summits at the Myriad Hotel, and thathas been a full day with all the CEOs from the largest operators. And then on Wednesday I went to the boat Sunset Cruise, which was also lovely.
